How to use KartBrain

From the first sign-in to a PDF you can hand to a crew chief. Do them in order the first weekend. After that, start at the step you need.

  1. 1

    Create the account

Sign in with email, Google, or Apple. Set a password once if you want one. Onboarding asks who drives, the kart, the engine and class, and the home track. A driver under 13 goes through a parent or guardian.

  2. 2

    Build the first setup sheet

Open Setups and name the sheet. Pick chassis, engine, class, and series. Fill the sections you use and hide the rest from Customize. Save. Duplicate it when you make a change so the old sheet stays.

  3. 3

    Log the session

New session: track, date and time, type, class, best lap. Weather is captured for that hour at the track. Link the setup you ran. If you have a stack of notes, import them from a photo and confirm each row before it saves.

    Bring in the data file

Tools → Race Studio / Alfano - DATA IMPORT. Choose XRK (it converts on your phone or computer) or CSV. Leave the recommended channels on. The first question is already filled in: improve the fastest lap. You can create a session from the file in the same step.

Read the lap before you change the kart

Open Data on that file. Start with Quick Read and Gain Plan. Turn laps off in the strip if they were traffic. Colour the map. Open the corner that the gain plan named. Compare it with your best lap, then with another session if you have one.

Quick Read names the corner to fix first.
  6. 6

    Check the engine

Rev Range shows where you lived in the RPM. Power, for classes with a dyno curve, adds estimated horsepower and time on the limiter. Type race weight if the session has no tech weight. Clutch Slip shows where the clutch was still open. Then run the LO206 jetting helper for the weather you are about to go out in, and photograph the plug after the run.

Ask, then look at Data Sent

Ask the coach with the setup attached, or continue the question under the data report. Open Data Sent on the reply. If a number is not in that panel or in the file, it was not measured.

  8. 8

    Share the day

Export the PDF from the data workspace or the session. Photograph the schedule if the club posted one, turn on alarms for your classes, and share the schedule link with the rest of the group.
